OS 1.02

There's only one build timestamp listed for OS 1.02. Is it for the one that was pre-loaded on calculators or the one that was released as a downloadable update? Is the timestamp of the other OS 1.02 known? JosJuice (talk) 12:13, 6 August 2014 (EDT)

  • I do not know about any other versions of OS 01.02, AFAIK the versions that come with calculators are the ones available on Casio's website (except for the special 01.04 OS that came preloaded with calculators that have the Macronix flash, before 02.00 was released). The dumps I took the stamps from were sent to me by TeamFX, and I only have one dump of OS 01.02. --Gbl08ma (talk) 15:25, 6 August 2014 (EDT)
    • There are indeed two versions of OS 1.02, which is quite strange. It was surprising too, because while we expected the online release of OS 1.02 to fix the Locate glitch with multi-byte characters that the pre-loaded OS 1.02 fixed, it actually still had the glitch. I think the glitch was fixed properly later, perhaps in OS 1.03. JosJuice (talk) 11:55, 7 August 2014 (EDT)
      • Hmm, so if I understand correctly, the preloaded OS 1.02 didn't have the bug, but the online 1.02 did? Either the bug was introduced with an update and didn't exist since the beginning, or the preloaded version is more recent (or comes from a different branch) than the official online release. Do you happen to have a dump of both, so I can identify mine properly and extract information from the other one? It would be a real pity if nobody took dumps of the preloaded 1.02, and nobody has access to a Prizm still with it installed. --Gbl08ma (talk) 11:41, 8 August 2014 (EDT)
        • The bug has existed since the first OS release. Unfortunately, I only have the OS 1.02 download, not a dump of the pre-installed version. I haven't had it installed on my Prizm in quite a while, but a quick search in the OS file gives me a result for 2010.1122.2053 (the timestamp listed in the article) right at the end. • Thank you. That indicates the preloaded OS 1.02 is probably more recent than the online release, but we'll only know for sure if we see its timestamp one day. Looks like a situation similar to the OS 1.04 one, where a special release came preloaded with Macronix chip calculators. --Gbl08ma (talk) 04:51, 9 August 2014 (EDT)
